Turkey for me, turkey for you...
First, things I am NOT thankful for... clicking on a link, and having Blogger lose the post I had halfway finished, even though it insisted it "saved" it. *squints angrily at Internet Explorer*
Ok, now... Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Yeah, I know I'm about five days late, but so what! The holiday practically got swallowed up by Christmas again this year, so it could use a little more celebration time. (Seriously, people, one holiday at a time!)
How was my break?
Wednesday: I worked a lot this day. The theater especially was surprisingly busy. For the first round, during which it was just me and Manager Josh, we had about 160 moviegoers, and the average concession amount was over $3.00 per person. For reference, the goal point for a whole day is right around $2.00. I got a free sandwich as my reward. :)
Thursday: Thanksgiving with Brian, his mom Joy, her boyfriend Mark and his son Tim. This is my third Thanksgiving with them, and it's been a blast every year. I had to work a few hours in the afternoon, but I still got to have a fantastic dinner with great people. Unfortunately, Mark was having some health problems, and they ended up having to cut the visit short. We still had a great time though.
Friday: Ah, Black Friday... so named because many businesses finally start to turn a profit due to massive holiday sales. This is not a day for the inexperienced or social shopper... I'm a veteran of many Black Friday tours, and I can tell you that I've seen good people go into Black Friday and never come out the same. Roommate and I decided that we were gonna go... I had my eye on a Cheap Bigass Hard Drive at Best Buy, and he wanted to hit Circuit City, Old Navy, and maybe Toys 'r' Us. We left at 5:15am, after seriously debating just staying up the whole night playing video games. Where he gets his energy, I really don't know... hyper bastard.... :) The line at Best Buy was giganimous, and some people had apparently been camping out since 3am. I like electronics, but seriously people... nothing they had on sale was worth showing up at 3am. NOTHING. After a half-hour wait just to get into the store, I went hunting for the CBHD like a cheetah at feeding time. After a little rigamarole about tickets and whatnot (read = load of bull), I confirmed that they were out of hard drives. Such are the casualties of war. We hit the other stores with much greater success, and at Circuit City I found a comparable CBHD for a comparable price. Let's hear it for employees not taking down sale tags! :) The rest of the day was good too... a few hours of work, then Movie Night with Roommate (one of my favorite activities...)
Saturday/Sunday: These days get one post, because they kind of ran together. I drove home Saturday morning, then did some shopping with Mom. I got my new Eskimo coat (it's snug!) from Santa Mom (thanks Mom!), and some other random items. Then I spent a little time at my sister's house, seeing Sean and my new nephew Ryan. Ten days old and already the cutest thing ever! Sean is two now, and is so very smart. I'm so proud of him, and I can't wait till he's older, and I can play Aunt Donna and send him all kinds of geeky books and stuff. And then I get to do it again with Ryan! Sunday was good too... had lunch with the grandparents, then spent more time at my sister's. I also got to stop and see my friend Lisa, who just had her baby Abby on Tuesday. So many babies this weekend!
Now it's back to the rat race. But first... Things I'm Thankful For:
- Getting to spend the holidays with family (or second family, as the case may be...)
- All the little babies!
- My family, who I love, no matter how much they drive me crazy :)
- My best friend, who keeps me sane (trying task though that may be)
- Being so fortunate... I'm not starving on the street, I have a good future ahead of me, and good friends that care about me. What more can you ask for?
Stay tuned folks... the blog is back. :)
